The swimming-pool landscape has changed considerably in the last few decades. While there were formerly hardly anything other than conventional swimming and spa pools, the situation is very different today. Especially the wellness trend has caused an enormous diversity of pool types to be built and operated – at the municipal level as well as in hotels and health facilities. The spectrum extends from the highly specialized therapy pool to generously-sized adventure pools, including ultra-modern high-tech spas for competitive swimming. The technical requirements on the air-conditioning system differ accordingly. DencoHappel has continuously accompanied the market development and acquired unique know-how. This carefully gained and rewarding experience is invested in the new model series CAIRpool equipped with a highly-efficient double-plate heat exchanger and optional inverter-controlled or reversible heat pump.

With CAIRpool we have succeeded in creating a model series which thoroughly convinces in this regard and also ensures more than 40% energy savings as compared to the current conventional market solutions. The optimal energy efficiency of the models makes a significant contribution to the conservation of valuable resources and the preservation of the environment. Decreasing operating costs simultaneously promote cost effectiveness – an advantage which rapidly pays for itself even for smaller spas and swimming pools.

Quality for people and masonry
The swimming-pool dehumidification with CAIRpool ensures a pleasant indoor climate and reliably counteracts structural damage from too high moisture – and this with low energy input. Fresh air is used for dehumidification of swimming pools. Fresh air is circulated within a swimming pool for 24 hours a day and provides ventilation against trichloromethane, chloramine and other corrosion-promoting substances.

The controller strategy is based on the requirements of the VDI2089. Optimized and cost-effective selection of operating modes is certainly an integral part of the package. Fresh air is pre-warmed for units with double-plate heat exchangers (certified heat-recuperation units correspond to the high energy-efficiency class H1). If an inverter-controlled or reversible heat pump is selected, supply air is conditioned using air condenser in accordance with the swimming-pool requirements making supply air slightly warmer than extract air. Inverter regulates the heat pump is such a way that excessive temperature is prevented. If a reversible heat pump is used, the unit cools air at excessive temperature in summer. An optional pool-water condenser transfers part of heat output to a buffer tank or directly to pool water.

Since the internal components of the CAIRpool are configured with regard to energy efficiency, the required electrical energy consumption can be kept low. Sophisticated control concepts regulate the most favorable operating point for every system type. Even in idle mode, the swimming-pool air is dehumidified in mixed-air mode where part of fresh air is supplied. Trichloromethane, chloramine and other pollutants are reduced. Thus CAIRpool ensures 24-hour fresh and healthy air with little corrosive particles in the swimming pool and ductwork. During the night/idle period, the controller monitors the air conditions in the swimming pool hall. The dehumidification process is then regulated depending on air condition.

Unit versions
CAIRpool swimming pool dehumidifiers of types PPX, PPI and PPR range a capacity between 800 up to 36,000 m3/h. In such a way with a single unit swimming-pool surfaces up to approx. 750 m2 can be dehumidified. At the same time units can reach a dehumidification capacity of up to 230 kg/h.
